New Study Uncovers Alumni Attitudes Toward College Career Services

by

Associated image

A new survey of more than 11,000 college graduates reveals that effective career counseling greatly contributes to student satisfaction with their college experience. The Gallup-Purdue Index Report 2016 also shows that many students do not visit their college's career services office; in fact, only 51 percent of students reported that they did so. However, the survey does suggest that college guidance services are becoming increasingly popular. Students who graduated from college between 2010-2016 were more likely to have sought out career services than those who graduated prior. This study is part of a larger, multi-year initiative by Gallup, Purdue University, and the Lumina Foundation to explore how well four-year colleges are preparing students for life after graduation.
