St. Louis, a hub for agricultural technology and plant science research, hosts both large companies like Bayer Crop Sciences and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, as well as small startups. To meet the evolving demands of this industry, St. Louis Community College (STLCC) aims to develop new courses focused on targeted genome editing within its Biotechnology AAS and Certificate programs. Through collaboration with industry partners, STLCC seeks to create a cutting-edge curriculum that prepares biotechnician graduates with advanced skills, enhancing their internship and employment prospects locally and globally. This project builds upon a previous ATE award, aiming to provide technical training for mid-level technicians in genome editing, equipping both new students and incumbent workers with specialized skills to meet industry needs and promote regional bioscience growth.
