An Early Example of Nanotechnology's Convergence with Other Technologies

This article, published by Nanowerk, provides an example of the way in which the use of nanotechnology in combination with other branches of science and technology leads to technological innovations.  The paper cites a specific instance where "the convergence of nanotechnology, microtechnology, microfluidics, photonics, signal processing, and proteomics to build a medical device that could lead to the development of fast, portable point-of-care diagnostics for infectious disease (IDs) such as HIV, SARS and many others."  A diagram accompanies the article.
