2025 IEDB Virtual User Workshop

Day 1: Overview of the IEDB curation process, database structure, and content. The different database query features will be demonstrated and a research example will be provided.

Day 2: Overview of the epitope prediction and analysis tools for both the Next-Generation tools and classic Analysis Resource.

Day 3: Specialized topics will be covered including specific tools, the IEDB application programming interface (API), and other areas of research, such as HIV and cancer.

KidWind Virtual Workshops - Solar Energy 101

During this virtual workshop, educators will learn the foundations of solar power including the science and technology of solar PV and thermal energy. Organizers will also introduce activities for the classroom that engage students in dynamic, hands-on, energy-based learning.

All teachers who pre-register will receive a $150 kit before the 3 hour virtual training and we will go through how to use these materials in the classroom. This workshop has self-guided and in-person components.

Some things to know:

  • Workshop cost is $250.
  • This workshop and the materials used are geared towards middle school and high school teachers.
  • No prior knowledge on solar energy is required.
  • You will need a stable internet connection and dedicated space in which to work.
  • A box of material will be shipped 4-7 days before the workshop.

This collection includes three documents and twelve video clips that summarize the results of the Workforce Summit for Industry 4.0 launched by the Corporate Member Council of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASSE). The Workforce Summit for Industry 4.0 brought together "experts, academic leaders, and other community stakeholders to plan how to transform education of the skilled technical workforce to respond to the fourth industrial revolution." The 3-page infographic, 4-page executive summary/policymaker's briefing, and the 8-page white paper each provide an overview of the summit in varying detail. This lab, presented by the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure, teaches students which patients, from a variety of samples, have diabetes. Students will measure "...the glucose concentration of several synthetic blood and urine samples..." This contains a 13-page teacher guide, that provides preparation information, materials needed, and instructional procedure. Biofab Explorer, provided by CAST, is a "free career guidance resource created to attract and inspire students to the emerging field of biofabrication." On the front page of Biofab Explorer, learners can read about the biofabrication process, watch biofab case study videos, and explore the biofab careers page, which includes video testimonials and information on several careers in biotechnology. Also featured are biofab challenges, which make up a "series of work-based learning simulations that will model what it is like to work in the biofabrication industry." Throughout the challenges, students will practice real-world skills, such as data analysis, communication, and observation. Included are student worksheets and presentation slides. Additionally, Biofab Explorer includes information for teachers regarding using resources on the website for in-class activities.

Elias describes his journey to fully enrolling in Miami Dade, joining the cybersecurity programming, and eventually being employed by Amazon. New Research: Trends for Short-Term Credentials & Other Awards


According to a new DataPoints article from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), public community colleges awarded more than 1.52 million credentials in 2023–24, showing a steady rebound since the pandemic. Short-term credentials, defined as programs lasting less than a year, rose 27% between 2017–18 and 2023–24.

The average student now earns about 1.34 credentials annually, reflecting growth in stackable or sequential credentialing pathways. Meanwhile, associate degree awards dipped from their 2020–21 peak but saw a modest recovery in 2023–24.

The Geospatial Technology Consortium of Community Colleges (GTC3) invites applications for GeoAcademy, an online professional development program designed to expand understanding and application of geospatial technologies. Through structured, hands-on learning and collaborative engagement, participants will explore how geospatial tools can enhance student learning, support research initiatives, strengthen program evaluation, and enrich instructional resources across disciplines. GeoAcademy is open to professionals affiliated with community colleges and related educational institutions, including faculty, librarians, researchers, and instructional designers. No prior experience with geospatial technologies is required.
