In this lesson module from the Lane Community College ARC GIS program, students use a web-based GIS map of the Lewis and Clark expedition to explore the importance of physical and cultural geography during western expansion. Additionally, students will develop skills including identifying the query, measuring, eraser, information, and magnifying tools, as well as the layers on the web based Lewis and Clark Map. This lesson will be a part of a larger unit on mapping and creating a “travel brochure”/ atlas within a history class. This lesson will be used for one class period and includes both a teaching guide and student worksheets.
