Best Practices for Student Robotic Camps
This publication, from Florida's Regional Center for Manufacturing Education (FLATE), presents a model for running summer robotic camps for middle and high school students. Authored by Marilyn Barger, Richard Gilbert, and Marie A. Boyette, this paper offers details about FLATE's experiences as well as "logistic details for creating and operating your own camp. These details are based on FLATE’s cumulative experience with over 400 camp attendees with 200 participating in the summer of 2010, the operation of camps exclusively for girls, and the export of camps to off site locations. Initial follow up details about attendees is also provided." Sections in the article include pre-camp preparations, camp itself, and post-camp surveys and wrap-up. There are also sections on specific themes and example follow-up surveys.
