Materials Science and Technology Teacher's Handbook: Experiments/Demonstrations: Polymers

This chapter from the Materials Science and Technology Teacher's Handbook provides experiments and demonstrations involving polymers that can be used in a materials science and technology curriculum. These experiments are "designed to grab students’ attention, pull their minds from predictable everyday classroom activities, give them something to look forward to, and teach them some simple principles and properties used by materials scientists." Experiments include Slime, Polymer Foam Creations, Casting a Rubber Mold from RTV, and Epoxy Resin Casting. Drawings and diagrams help illustrate the concepts. This document will serve as a framework for instructors and may be downloaded in PDF format.
