Major Animal Phyla

This handout from the Biotechnology Alliance for Suncoast Biology Educators reviews the basic biology and classification of major invertebrate animal phyla for high school biology students. It requires live animal examples. Model animals include: upside down jellyfish, tubifex worm, aquatic snail, C. elegans, and cricket. Together with the accompanying Animal Phyla PowerPoint slideshow, this lesson is the basis for an Animal Diversity Lab.
