Effective Outreach, Recruitment, and Mentoring into STEM Pathways: Strengthening Partnerships with Community Colleges

This paper, commissioned by the 2011 summit on Community Colleges in the Evolving STEM Education Landscape, describes the outreach, recruitment, and mentoring strategies that can mitigate barriers and improve retention in transfer programs between two-year and four-year institutions in STEM disciplines. These transfer programs allow students access to the four-year degrees generally needed to be competitive in STEM fields and are crucial to the growth of US workforce.
