FLATE Technology Interview Series: Southern Manufacturing Technologies, Inc.

This video from FLATE, the Florida Advanced Technological Education Center of Excellence, features an interview with Roy Sweatman, president of Southern Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., a high-precision machine shop producing components and assemblies for the aircraft and aerospace industry. Mr. Sweatman describes the manufacturing work SMT does and the educational background the company looks for in new employees, including a background in STEM, National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification, as well as experience, and the ongoing 'learning culture' and continuing education available through SMT. Finally, a high-school intern working with SMT describes her own experience training with the company and the skills she's gained in the position.
