The Sustainable Facilities Operation Associate Degree program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), is designed to help prepare students to manage facility operations in roles such as energy manager, facilities manager, maintenance supervisor, and many more. The program places "emphasis ... on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management."
Instructor Guide Description:
NATSCI-169: Energy in Nature, Technology and Society is one of eight classes in the Sustainable Facilities Operation program. This 42-page instructor guide outlines this college-level course that "provides an introduction to the essential roles of energy in nature and human activity." The guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities to encourage class participation, which help students gain an understanding of "human's impact on the environment and restrictions on earth's ability to provide resources; limitations of different energy sources; and impact from humans on global warming and other pollution." This instructor guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students "energy basics, electricity basics, fossil fuel basics, nuclear energy, and renewable energy."
