Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping, Integrated to Unlock Potential 7th Grade Science Curriculum
These presentation slides, from Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping Integrated to Unlock Potential (AMP-IT-UP), address the seventh grade science curriculum developed by the AMP-IT-UP partnership between the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) and the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS). AMP-IT-UP is "a National Science Foundation Math and Science Partnership to promote workforce development and to identify and cultivate the next generation of creative STEM innovators." The AMP-IT-UP partnership created nine math modules and nine science modules total, including three modules for each grade level that cover the following topics: Experimental Design, Data Visualization, and Evidence- Based. The seventh grade science modules are Under the Sea (in which "Students analyze photos of corals to determine the effect of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill on Deep Sea Communities"); Oil Spill Drill (in which "Students engage as environmental engineers to assist coastal Georgia communities to develop a procedure to develop the fastest, most efficient way to remove oil after a spill"); and Don't Wreck the Reef (in which "Students investigate a model of the food web at the coral reef to generate and then project species population data.")
