Remote Sensing Analysis Made Easy

This exercise, developed by Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training Project (iGETT), is an introduction to remote sensing concepts and Landsat imagery using a web browser and Esri web applications. The exercise is divided into the following three parts: Unlocking Earth's Secrets, Landsat Explorer and more advanced techniques, and Create a Poster for Your State or Region.

Exercise materials include a PowerPoint presentation, the 6-page exercise, a Viewing New Mexico from Space poster, and a blank poster. The 6-page exercise document includes a list of resources available and other resources needed, learning objectives, and exercise instructions.

The PowerPoint presentation is intended to be given during one 55-minute lecture period. The presentation has the following objectives:

• Introduce important remote sensing concepts with links to additional concept module videos on YouTube
• Show how to use a web browser and two Esri ArcWeb Apps to access Landsat data and remote sensing analysis tools
• Demonstrate the use of the two applications:
  • Unlocking Earths Secrets
  • Exploring Landsat

Two posters are also included. The Viewing New Mexico From Space poster was made using imagery from the apps Unlocking Earths Secrets and Landsat Explorer. The blank poster is intended to use for Part C of the exercise - creating your own poster using the apps.

For orientation purposes the remote_sensing_using_apps_and_browser_hands_on_exercise_igett_v3_6_26_2017_.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this collection.
