Convergence in the Era of Intelligent and Cognitive Assistants
This video is part of the 2020 SciTech Lecture Series from Forsyth Technical Community College. This series of lectures is held every year and covers an array of science and technology topics.
This lecture features Daniel J.C. Herr, the chair of the Nanoscience Department at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN). During the video, Herr discusses the original process for creating a presentation on intelligent cognitive assistants. This presentation was given at the National Science Foundation Nanoscale Science and Engineering (NSE) grantees conference. Herr focuses on the following areas in regards to intelligent and cognitive assistants: personal adaptive tutors, health/elder care, and cognitive assistants in smarter communities. Applications of intelligent cognitive assistants are shown in these different areas. These applications include CIMON (Crew Interactive Mobile Companion) that is used on the international space station, Amazon's Alexa, flight simulators, and more.
