Introduction of the SAE Fuel Cell Systems Certification
This webinar is part of a series of Mindful Mobility Tech Talks hosted by the Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition. In the webinar, John Frala, Tim Perzanowski, and Mark Quarto introduce the SAE Fuel Cell Systems Certification, developed by the Northwest Engineering and Vehicle Technology Exchange (NEVTEX). John Frala from Rio Hondo College describes the creation and goals of the NEVTEX grant. Tim Perzanowski highlights the benefits and characteristics of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, safety characteristics, how fuel cells operate compared to batteries, personal protective equipment (PPE), codes and standards, building and structure requirements, and the certification. Perzanowski also describes fuel cell components, which include hydrogen storage systems, the propulsion system, the stack system, the anode subsystem, the cathode subsystem, and the cooling system. Mark Quarto describes an update to the EVPP level one certification and how it applies to the fuel cell certificate program. Presentation slides are available to view separately. The video recording runs 1:20:30 minutes in length.
