This document from the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE) was created for the Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) project. The SCADA project is an industry driven initiative with the goal of integrating twenty-first century SCADA technology into existing energy education programs through collaboration and industry partners.

This 17-page document presents an article, created for the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) 2022 Annual Conference, that highlights the work done by the SCADA project. In the article, the effects of SCADA on the energy industry, prior work done by CREATE in SCADA technology, the development of the CREATE SCADA curriculum, the lab trainer board, lab activities and their assessment, the CREATE open-source SCADA platform, next steps, and recommendation for educators within energy technology programs are highlighted.
