During this podcast episode from the Preparing Technicians From Work project, Zachary Niclin, co-PI from the National Center of Autonomous Technologies (NCAT), discusses converging technologies. This presentation focuses on NCAT's core autonomous systems technician pathway. Niclin defines convergence, introduces the audience to autonomous technologies industries, and discusses similarities between industries, and the classes offered at Northland College. These core courses give students exposure to different pathways. Niclin also includes the process of creating this pathway, which includes: identify common core, develop a credential, establish a pathway, create curriculum, and link to industry. Barriers to change include: stove piping, credit load requirements, significant front-end work, and will the core credential be accepted.
