This video, published by EvaluATE: Evaluation Resource Center for Advanced Technological Education, is the first in a six-part series for applicants in the process of writing proposals for a National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant. Each part covers a different aspect of the role of evaluations in an ATE grant proposal. This video provides an overview of why applicants for ATE grants should include an evaluation in their proposal, what evaluations are, and the benefit of evaluation to both grantees and project teams. Also covered is the role of evaluation in contributing to a body of knowledge in the project's field. The video also highlights an evaluation plan checklist resource for ATE proposals.

This video runs 00:03:22 minutes in length. Other videos in this series, as well as the evaluation plan checklist resource highlighted in the video, are available to view separately. The next video in the series covers the "essential elements of an ATE proposal plan" and factors to consider when identifying an evaluator.
