Sustainable Facilities Operation: Program Development

These resources from the BEST Center provide information about the Sustainable Facilities Operations (SFO) Associate Degree program at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). This program is designed to prepare students for managing facility operations in roles such as energy manager, facilities manager, maintenance supervisor, and more. The program places "emphasis ... on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management."

Resources include a PowerPoint presentation about the program and a program guide. The 32-page guide includes a table of contents and provides information about the program rationale and key elements, future trends, industry involvement, labor market needs, recruitment, program infrastructure, and pedagogy. The following three appendices are also included: Industry Survey, Industry DACUM Participants, and DACUM for Sustainable Facilities Operations.

The PowerPoint presentation provides an overview of the program's core classes, a program layout review, basic format of a course, potential homework, tentative schedules, and more.
