Program Description:

The Environmental Control Technology Commercial HVAC Systems certificate and Associate degree program at Laney College is designed to "... prepare[] students to install, service, and maintain large-scale commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R) and controls, with emphasis on safety, occupancy, comfort, and energy efficiency." The program focuses "... on technical knowledge and electronic and computer-based skills [that are] needed to increase energy efficiency in buildings."

Course Description:

ECT 29: Data Analysis for Performance Monitoring is one of ten courses in the Environmental Control Technology Commercial HVAC Systems program. This 19-page instructor guide outlines the course, which introduces "... methods of acquiring HVAC equipment performance data to improve operations and reduce energy consumption." Emphasis is placed on data acquisition through using portable data loggers and DDC control systems, as well as on trending and visualizing data through tool like electronic databases and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
