Program Description:

The Environmental Control Technology Commercial HVAC Systems certificate and Associate degree program at Laney College is designed to "... prepare[] students to install, service, and maintain large-scale commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R) and controls, with emphasis on safety, occupancy, comfort, and energy efficiency." The program focuses "... on technical knowledge and electronic and computer-based skills [that are] needed to increase energy efficiency in buildings."

Course Description:

ETC 212: Testing, Adjusting and Balancing is one of ten courses in the Environmental Control Technology Commercial HVAC Systems program. This 23-page instructor guide outlines the course, which serves as an "introduction to the theory and practice necessary to properly test, adjust and balance HVAC systems including air and water systems." During this course "students will develop proficiency in the use of instruments to properly balance the systems." The guide includes a table of contents, student learning outcomes, sample test questions, and more. The following two appendices are included: Sample syllabus and Problem Based Learning Scenario.
