Like vacuum pump technology, the vast differences in molecular density at atmosphere and high or ultra-high vacuum require a multitude of pressure measurement techniques. This course describes a wide range of pressure measurement approaches as well as the pros and cons of each device. Certain process-specific characteristics are identified that might guide the user on the selection of the suite of instruments required to cover large pressure ranges.

Cybersecurity Capabilities and Careers Symposia (3CS) sessions explore or document innovative ideas, evidence-based practices, and demonstration of techniques and technologies for raising the capability maturity of the cybersecurity workforce. The conference is intended to cover the ASME core technical areas related to energy, manufacturing, and robotics and cross cutting technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, materials, design, reliability, and sustainability. The conference will include topics such as emerging technologies for monitoring damage levels, analytical tools to quantify degradation rates with focus on probabilistic developments, case histories and definition of the way forward to develop recommended practices and standards.

Project scope creep occurs when your original project scope expands to include additional features and functionality without the corresponding adjustments to time, budget, or other resources. Scope creep is one of the biggest project management pitfalls, the leading cause of projects over budget, and a key driver of reducing company profitability. The good news is that you can take some simple actions to reduce scope creep on your engineering projects significantly.

How can you improve the quality of your alt text while reducing the amount of time spent writing it? This webinar guides accessibility professionals, digital content creators, and educators through using AI to generate accurate and intricate alternative text (alt text) (an accessibility requirement for all informative images). It will provide examples of standard prompts created for Bard and Chat GPT 4 that can be uploaded with an image to quickly create high quality text, reducing the time spent on manual writing. These prompts work for a wide range of images, including but not limited to: infographics, diagrams, charts, figurative images, general images, art appreciation images, tables, scatter plots, graphs, math, and complicated equations. Finally, participants will explore best practices for using AI in accessibility work. Ultimately, this webinar can empower participants to speed their accessibility processes and enhance their online course and web accessibility, making digital content more inclusive for those with visual, learning, and cognitive disabilities, as well as those with limited internet bandwidth.

The ASEE Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration (CIEC) is organized by the Cooperative and Experiential Education Division (CEED), the College Industry Partnership Division (CIPD), the Continuing Professional Development Division (CPDD), and the Engineering Technology Division (ETD). Since 1976, the annual conference has been a place for workshops, technical sessions, training, and plenary keynote and panels emphasizing the long and mutually beneficial partnerships among education, industry, and government.

This session will review and provide an opportunity to try out formative credentialing assessments that are part of the upcoming CyberWatch Microcredentials for Secure Computing. The BAR acronym stands for Behaviorally Anchored Rating. Much evidence shows that when BAR scales, based on the tasks that must be performed to excel in a career position, are used to evaluate capability maturity, the results are less biased and more accurate predictors of future job performance. The previous Raise the BAR assessments have been used by companies, such as IBM, to identify the most qualified candidates for open positions. This year's program will also include the Core Concept Readiness Inventories which assess your stock of knowledge in four fundamental domains of information security:

  1. C-I-A Triad
  2. Controls, Threats & Attacks
  3. Cryptography
  4. Security Testing, Engineering, and Operations

The Information Security Fundamentals Readiness Assessment will provide a proficiency profile and opportunity to earn badges in recognition for demonstration of conceptual understanding of the prerequisite knowledge for a career in information security and readiness to fully benefit from an information security fundamentals course. The  Information Security Fundamentals Readiness Assessment is therefore ideal for a student who is in the beginning or middle of their educational program but can be of value to any student who wishes to demonstrate to prospective employers that they possess the knowledge required to apply information security concepts in information technology and networking job roles that are the feeders into cybersecurity specialist jobs. The complete Information Security Readiness Assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Successfully diversifying STEM education requires a deep understanding of the lived experiences of underrepresented students as they navigate systems that were often not created with them in mind. Numbers only tell part of the story of the challenges these students face while pursuing higher education and thus hold a limited understanding of the solution to diversifying STEM education.

This webinar focuses on how inclusive qualitative data gathering methods can honor the complexity of the challenges in diversifying the STEM workforce. Webinar participants will better understand the power that qualitative insights hold in identifying challenges in access to quality education, patterns in utilization of services, and potential solutions that students self-formulate to navigate educational environments. These insights can then be harnessed to create more equitable learning environments where underrepresented students can thrive. Participants will learn to identify opportunities when qualitative evaluation can be advantageous in promoting the success of underrepresented students in STEM education.

Workshop participants will come away with strategies to:

  • Clarify and assess you and your mentor-manager’s goals, priorities, and values.
  • Assess your workstyle and that of your mentor-manager (and other colleagues)
  • Scope your situation: Utilize an investigative (proactive) approach to assess the 4 key factors in your workplace: the work, your boss, the team, and the organization

For over 30 years, the NCPN Connect Conference has been dedicated to strengthening the education-to-careers pipeline through Career Pathways, Adult Career Pathways, career and technical education (CTE), and workforce development initiatives.

The world of work is changing at a breakneck pace. Skills are evolving so rapidly that students, businesses, and communities are struggling to keep up. CORD’s Framework for Career Pathways Alignment provides an organizing structure for educators, employers and community partners to design career pathways that support students to completion. The four program strands for NCPN CONNECT 2025 sessions are aligned to the components of CORD’s Framework.

As technical educators, we all understand how internship opportunities can be a pivotal part of any technical education program.  But sometimes establishing and implementing Internships for students can be daunting.  Please join us for the next Energy Educator Coffee Hour and share your experience (or lack thereof) with providing internship opportunities to your students. Success stories, lessons learned, best-practice ideas, or general questions are all welcome.

From small performances to large commencement ceremonies, and all the guest lectures and hackathons in-between, higher education institutions strive to ensure events held on campus are accessible to anyone who wants to attend. However, coordinating among the multiple entities responsible for putting on events and determining who should be responsible for the various aspects can be challenging. This webinar will address multiple aspects of event access, including communication needs, physical spaces, digital mediums, and more. Focus will be placed on reducing the institution's reliance on the disability professionals to create access, and will provide actionable tools and processes for other campus entities to increase their comfort and ability to create events with meaningful access for all attendees, no matter their disabilities.
